Valeria Schwarz
Valeria Schwarz is an artist, curator, cultural mediator and mother. Her works are influenced by feminist speculative fiction as well as ideas of common welfare, and include participatory projects in the public space, performances, videos, installations, storytelling and hypnotic tours – a format she invented by merging speculative fiction and hypnosis.
She studied Art History at the University of Buenos Aires; Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca and did a Master in Arts in the Public Sphere at the EDHEA Valais School of Art. Currently she is a scholarship holder for the program Künstlerische Interventionen in der Kulturellen Bildung. In 2009 she co-founded iCollective e.V., a collaborative platform working at the intersection of artistic interventions in public spaces and socially engaged projects. Solo exhibitions include OPEN SOURCE gallery, New York, Credit Suisse Förderpreis Videokunst, PROGR Projektraum Kunstmuseum Bern, Bootsbau, Souterrain, Museo da Fotografia in Curitiba a.o.
Her works have been presented at Floating University, Kunstpunkt Berlin, Triennale du Valais, Kunstmuseum Bern, Spielart München, Lisbon Architecture Triennial, Parallel Events Manifesta 8 and 9, Matadero Madrid, Buenos Aires Night of Museums, School of Intermedia Arts in Hang Zhou, Schmiede in Hallein, Argentinean Embassy in Berlin, a.o.
