Valeria Graziano & Maddalena Fragnito (Pirate Care)
Maddalena and Valeria first collaborated on the research Rebelling with Care. Exploring Open Technologies for Commoning Healthcare (WeMake, 2019). With other accomplices from Memory of the World, they liberated the book series “Medicina e Potere” curated by the health activist Giulio Maccacaro (Pirate Care exhibition, Galerija Nova, Zagreb, 2021). They are currently the recipients of the artist residency Matrice Lavoro (by Base Milano and Fondazione ISEC), excavating forgotten histories of healthcare struggles in Italy.
Maddalena Fragnito is an artist and activist. Currently, she is a Doctoral Student at Coventry University’s Centre for Postdigital Cultures (UK). She co-founded the autonomous cultural centre MACAO (2012) and the self-managed kindergarten Soprasotto (2013), and is on the curatorial board of the Institute of Radical Imagination. She is the co-editor of Ecologie della cura (Orthotes, 2021) and author of the topic ‘Commoning Care’ for the Pirate Care Syllabus.
Valeria Graziano is a theorist, educator and cultural organizer based at the Centre for Advanced Studies, University of Rijeka (HR).
