“The Age of the Wrinkles” is a project based on skin diseases. Our body has wrinkles from the first hours of life and therefore the ability to stretch, wrinkle and wrinkle again with time. But what is our first and last wrinkle?
Wrinkles are marks, scars, sometimes they accompany us all our life – like the lifelines of a hand; in general wrinkles appear gradually until they fill our body with their presence.
In the first hours of life we have many wrinkles because our skin’s surface has not yet had time to stretch and tighten. In our old age we already have so many wrinkles that there are no surfaces left upon which time can inscribe itself. This generous and defenseless surface called skin can give premature babies and the elderly far-reaching experiences. Consisting of millimetric layers that overlap each other, skin, when in contact with another skin, can stimulate dormant regions in the brain and reverse devastating diagnoses.
“The Age of the Wrinkles” is a reflection on the condition of the skin at its beginning and end. It shows the fundamental role of the feeling of being loved, cared for and accompanied until the end of our days.
